Shooting on Helperzoom, One Person Reported Dead
On a night between Sunday 26 May and Monday 27 May around 00:30, a shooting incident occurred on Helperzoom Street. The victim is a 24-year-old woman from Groningen.
Groningen Police received a report of an imminent situation in a house on Helperzoom Street. During the intervention, one of the police officers felt threatened and was forced to shoot. The injuries sustained by the woman were fatal, and she passed away shortly thereafter. No police officer was injured.
The case is currently being investigated by the National Criminal Investigation Service (Rijksrecherche). We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the young woman whose life was tragically cut short, and we share in their grief during this incredibly difficult time.
