New Club in Old Vapiano’s?

New Club in Old Vapiano’s?

Here's how YOU can help bring this vision to life.

As probably many of you realised, the place that used to be called Vapiano’s is currently closed. The municipality of Groningen owns the building, and the people in charge still haven’t decided on its future purpose. That’s how the idea of creating a place where you can be productive during the day, and blow some steam off during night came to life.

There is a party representing young people and students in Groningen, called Student & Stad. Their goal is to show the voice of youth and make community interest a part of conversation.

They are the authors of an idea to repurpose the old Vapino’s into a place dedicated for student activities. In a video, which you can find here, they point out how Groningen has many bars, but proportionally few clubs and event venues. Far from ideal for a place considered student city.

“That's why I want the building that used to house Vapiano's to serve a cultural purpose. There can be a concept where there is space for studios or incubators during the day, and at night it turns into a club with space for night culture.”

To make this plan a reality, they need your help. Parties such as Groenlinks (GreenLeft) and Partij van de Arbeid (Labour Party) need to approve it. By sharing their video or this article you can make a huge difference in the way Groningen will look in the future!
